A Visual Journey

As Maya Angelou has said, “All great artists draw from the same resource: the human heart, which tells us that we are all more alike than we are unalike.”

Through intuition and intellectual choices, I aim to capture the essence of emotion I feel in a piece. Working in acrylics and mixed media, my hope is to invite the viewer to step in close, enjoy the layers of texture and color and discover the details of the painting that might not be noticeable from a distance, ultimately to move them in some way.  

Authenticity is an important value to me. The more authentic I am in life, the more authentic my art becomes. My life and art are sometimes harmonious and in flow, other times they seem to clash and be at odds. I try to embrace it all, the good and the difficult, keeping it real in this one life I have to live. The challenge I give myself is to push the boundaries of my artwork, continue to be open, let go and play more, take more chances, and explore the boundless possibilities of this creative journey.
